Inter-country Adoption

Cheshire County Council works in partnership with a North West Voluntary Adoption Agency called Nugent Care in order to provide a service to those people who are wishing to adopt a child from another country. Nugent Care provides an experienced and specialist service and is based in St Helens, Merseyside. Nugent Care can provide information, advice and counselling to anyone who wishes to find out more about intercountry adoption and can also carry out the required Home Study. They are one of only 6 agencies in the country with a DfES* accreditation to carry out intercountry adoption. Up to date information about inter country adoption can also be found on the government websites which can give details of 'designated' countries and any recent developments in relation to adoption from particular countries. In particular, see: www.dfes.gov.uk/intercountryadoption *(Please note that the DfES has now become the Department of Children, Schools and Families) www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk which gives information about the Immigration Rules.
