The Adoption Register

The Adoption Register for England and Wales is operated by BAAF (above) on behalf of the DfES and the National Assembly for Wales. The Register has a database of details of children awaiting adoption and details of approved adopters.

 

Government Information on Adoption

This website gives a lot of information for the public about adoption. For example, 'what is adoption', the adoption process, adoption leave and pay, step parent adoption, intercountry adoption etc.

 

The General Register Office (GRO)

The GRO is a government agency that maintains a record of adoptions made on the authority of courts in England and Wales in the Adopted Children Register. The GRO also maintains the Adoption Contact Register which exists to put adopted peopled and their birth relatives in touch with each other if they both have registered that wish.
